257: H-D Museum’s Dare Devils Exhibit

Show Date: 05/18/2019

(Season 13 EP 20)

The full title of this new exhibit is… are you ready for it…

Dare Devils – A Century of Spine Tingling Spectacular!

The exhibit will run from June 15th through September 8th. It’s a full century of Dare Devils using everything from horses, bicycles, automobiles and of course motorcycles.

In the studio we will have the Museum’s Exhibit’s Curator David Kreidler and Public Relations Guru Tim McCormick.

The idea for the exhibit started with photographs of motorcycle stunt and drill teams. They thought this would make a great story to tell. The further the story developed the more they a connection between dare devils and their choice of contraptions – like horses and bicycles.

And these dare devils were insane. They were entertainers.

It’s taken years of searching through old news paper articles with a lot of detective work tracking down names and locations to find historic vehicles and equipment.

The exhibit will include the famous 100 year old “Globe of Death” giant motorcycle stunt sphere. Where several cyclist from the Urias family were able to drive horizontal and almost upside down to the ground. This – while spectator’s stood next to the globe looking into it.

There will be a famous – up on two wheels – stunt car. One of Evel’s jump bikes. And items from the Buffalo Bill’s collection.
